Mission Statement

What we want to achieve

The Aitkin County Historical Society is a non-profit 501(c)(3) county organization entrusted with the documentation, preservation and dissemination of information and materials pertinent to the history of Aitkin County, Minnesota.

The long-term vision and purpose of the Aitkin County Historical Society shall be:

• The collection, preservation and dissemination of historical information and materials pertinent to the history of Aitkin County, Minnesota.
• To elevate the interest in Aitkin County history by the dissemination of the historical information to interested persons, groups and institutions.
• To enhance the awareness of the museum and the Historical Society with continued programs for students, the public and other organizations as deemed appropriate by the Board of Trustees.
• To provide a continued source of historical information available to everyone at the present as well as for future generations.
